PETALING JAYA: A senior police officer is under investigation for allegedly leaking confidential information and pictures of a rape victim, say police.
This comes after a police report went viral online accusing a former district police chief of distributing case facts and images to media personnel in a WhatsApp group.
The report was lodged in 2020 by an officer attached to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters’ criminal investigation department.
When contacted, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan told FMT that the case is still being investigated under Section 203A of the Penal Code, which pertains to the disclosure of information.
