Judgement in the rape trial of Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is to be handed down on June 15, Norwegian media reported on Monday, citing the Oslo District Court.

The drawn-out trial of the 29-year-old ended in March. He faced charges under 40 counts, with 20 of them related to a former girlfriend, whom he is banned from contacting.

Four of the charges relate to rape, with Høiby accused of filming the crimes.

At the end of the trial, prosecutors demanded seven years and seven months in prison. Høiby's defence lawyers, by contrast, argued for a prison sentence of 18 months and argued that he should be acquitted of the rape charges.
