Kota Kinabalu: Sabah can expect an outflow of workers from the State following the rapid realisation of Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara in Kalimantan.
In view of this, a revision of the foreign workers policy is necessary, in particular an extension of the foreign worker permit to up to 15 years instead of the current annual permit, cautioned former Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Salleh.
Harris said he had written to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for consideration on the matter.
He said the population of Nusantara (Kalimantan Borneo) is expected to surge to 50 million by 2030.
