Serve all Malaysians regardless of race, PM tells healthcare workers

BERA – Healthcare workers must serve all citizens effectively, regardless of religious and ethnic background, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today when launching the new Bera Hospital in Pahang.

He said this was part of the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) concept promoted by his government, which is aimed at ensuring that all citizens live in harmony with one another.

“The concept is based on three core values of unity, inclusion and gratitude.

“In line with that, I hope the attitude of caring and being ready to help, and being patient when providing health services, is practiced by all health workers,” the Bera MP said, as reported by Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.

The hospital in his constituency began operations on July 1 with the opening of the 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Unit and Patient Assessment Centre.

Approved under the 9th Malaysia Plan, it currently has 40 beds and will be further expanded, according to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who was present at the hospital’s launch today.

It will also have a RM9 million operating theatre that will complement another hospital, Temerloh’s Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital.

Ismail Sabri today said Bera Hospital will serve some 150,000 residents in the district.

The hospital, which began construction in 2010, was completed last June after facing various problems involving the original contractor.

Also present today were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun. – The Vibes, August 20, 2022
