PORT KLANG: The services and the manufacturing sectors were the highest contributors to investment value in Selangor for the first half of this year.
Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the two main sectors were identified based on an investment amounting to RM70 billion that had been recorded as of June.
The majority of the value of the investments approved by the state government was contributed by the services and the manufacturing sectors.
“We are confident that we can achieve the RM80 billion target within the next few months,“ Ng said after officiating the launch of the factory and central workshop of logistics vehicle company Steelbro (M) Sdn Bhd in Telok Gong here on Saturday.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was reported last Tuesday to be confident that the investment value recorded in Selangor this year could surpass the RM100 billion mark based on the encouraging momentum and investment trend.
Ng said the positive performance was the result of close cooperation between the state government, Invest Selangor, and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority in attracting investments to Selangor.
“This collaboration is important to further strengthen the momentum of investment, especially high-quality investments, while ensuring that the approved projects can be realised. We are witnessing the performance of Selangor’s investment continue to record impressive figures with RM101 billion in approved investments in 2024 and RM70 billion for the first half of this year,” he said.
Commenting on the Selangor Budget 2027, Ng said the menteri besar recently chaired a dialogue with university professors and stakeholders.
“The meeting was to discuss and gather views or requests from all parties covering different sectors.
“We want to make the budget that will be announced in mid-November more appropriate and focused on the development of this state,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ng said Selangor is Malaysia’s gateway to the world with a strong logistics sector.
“Our ambition is clear, which is to move to a higher level up the value chain in manufacturing and engineering.
“In this regard, I encourage Steelbro, which is a New Zealand company, to continue investing in our engineers and technicians as well as local suppliers and institutions,” he added.
