Kota Kinabalu: The Consumer Front of Sabah President Nordin Thani said the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) should use new technology to detect illegal power connections that have contributed to its loss in revenue due to power theft.

In a statement here, Sunday, Nordin said an alert system should be included in the SESB’s operating system which can immediately detect the precise location in the event of power theft or tampering.

“Most importantly, SESB should not let power theft be the reason for increasing the cost of electricity generation and transmission to the end users,” he said.

“Consumers do not mind paying any tariff hikes provided that they enjoy the impacts of power stability and reliability offered to them,” he said.
