SESB to continue as catalyst for industrial development

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will continue to be a catalyst for industrial development growth in Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

Its Chief Executive Officer Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said SESB as a utility company in Sabah would continue to play its role as a catalyst, in addition to ensuring that SESB remains relevant in every stage of development.

This includes providing interim energy supply to SBH Kibing Solar New Materials (M) Sdn Bhd the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) through the 33kV Kibing Main Switch Station (SSU).

SSU 33kV Kibing which was commissioned on Dec 29, 2023 will provide electricity to SBH Kibing Solar New Materials (M) Sdn Bhd at KKIP until the company’s power set is ready later.

He said in a statement after a working visit to the 33kV Kibing Main Switch Station (SSU) at KKIP here, Wednesday.

Also present was SBH Kibing Solar New Materials (M) Sdn Bhd Acting Managing Director Ma Wen Tao.

According to Mohd Yaakob, the State’s rapid development with the influx of foreign investors has helped Sabah’s economic growth and directly increased the use of electricity.

Therefore, he said SESB is always ready to help foreign investors who want to invest in the State by providing an electricity supply scheme that suits the proposed development.
