Ryan Sessegnon says victory at Brighton was a must for Tottenham.
Spurs won in the aftermath of the passing of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone.
Sessegnon said: "We 100 per cent knew we had to perform today and that was because of Gian Piero.
"It's a difficult place to come, you saw their performance at Liverpool and it was good for us to come here, keep a clean sheet and get a win.
"We had to dig deep."
