Seth Myers mocks Trump for going after The Independent inside the Oval Office

Seth Meyers mocked President Donald Trump for lashing out at Andrew Feinberg, The Independent’s White House correspondent, during an Oval Office press briefing this week.

As Feinberg tried to ask questions Tuesday, Trump repeatedly snapped at him, telling him to be quiet, warning him to “be careful” and labeling him a “sick person.”

Clips of the exchanges went viral on social media, drawing millions of views and thousands of comments, many questioning the president’s mental state.

Meyers took aim at Trump’s response on Wednesday’s edition of his late-night show.

“You can just feel the desperation radiating off the Trump team. Things are bad,” Myers said. “Trump doesn’t want anyone to ask him about it. And if you do, he’ll snap at you the way he snapped at reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday.”

Myers then aired a clip of the 80-year-old president berating Feinberg. Seated behind the Resolute Desk, Trump said: “Wait, wait, wait, wait. Quiet, quiet! What’s wrong with you? Are you a sick person?”

“Not that I know of, sir,” responded the reporter, who was standing in a crowd of other journalists.

On his show, Myers quipped: “Alright, first of all, ‘not that I know of’ is a very funny response to the question ‘are you a sick person?’

“It implies that you could be a sick person, you just don’t know it. Not that I know of, but I am choosing to spend my time here with you so, who the f*** knows.”

The host then continued poking fun at the president.

“Second, you can’t ask someone else if they’re a sick person if you describe yourself as ranting and raving,” he told his studio audience. “I mean, were you trying to yell at him or were you trying to connect? Are you a sick person, because I’d love to add you to a text chain I started of like and sick-minded people?”

The president’s remarks also drew numerous comments from online critics, many of whom expressed shock at the level of anger on display.

“Legit scary,” progressive political strategist Chris Sosa wrote on X. “Trump is a sick man. Literally something is broken,” added Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican congressman from Illinois.

Trump had his share of defenders too, including Vice President JD Vance, who later called Feinberg an “imbecile.”

The White House’s official Rapid Response account on X also called the reporter a “Mongoloid Moron” — an offensive term for people with Asian ancestry or Down syndrome — and deemed his behavior “disgraceful.”

The president has a long history of lashing out at journalists.

Over the years, he’s called reporters “treasonous,” “stupid,” “nasty,” and “piggy,” among many other names. He’s also attempted to revoke access to outlets he considers unfriendly to his administration and filed a series of lawsuits over coverage he has opposed.
