SEMPORNA: Seven illegal immigrants were detained during a series of enforcement operations carried out by the Semporna Immigration Department on Oct 7 and 8.

In a statement, the Sabah Immigration Department said a total of 25 individuals were inspected, with seven arrests made under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The individuals arrested include nationals from China and Pakistan.

The operations are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb the presence of illegal immigrants in the district.

The department urged the public to continue providing information on the presence of undocumented individuals in their areas to enable swift enforcement action.

The Sabah Immigration Department also issued a stern warning, stating that no compromise will be given to those found sheltering, hiring, or abetting illegal immigrants.

“Firm action will be taken in accordance with national laws to safeguard the country’s security,” the statement added.
