KOTA KINABALU: Seven people, including four children, were killed when a landslide buried a house at Kampung Cendera Kasih, Kolombong, on Monday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department said a distress call was received at 10.02am before a team from the Lintas fire station arrived at 10.24am, about three kilometres away.

Eleven people were confirmed to be involved in the tragedy.

Among the victims who died were a 40-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman, a seven-year-old boy, a nine-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl.

A 20-year-old man sustained injuries to his thigh, while three other boys aged 16, 18 and 15 managed to escape without harm.

The deceased were confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel and later handed over to police for further action.

The operation, involving 24 firefighters together with police, Civil Defence Force and Health Ministry staff, was called off at 3.46pm.
