Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar had no complaints after their 2-0 defeat at home to Girona last night.
The result was a blow to Sevilla's Euro qualifying hopes.
Mendilibar said: In the first half it was more difficult for us to play. We had chances before 0-1 but not before. I think that we have tried at all times and that we have not stopped wanting to score a goal, but it was not our day.
"The effort is there, it has been a game of wanting and not being able to. If we've been playing for three days we wouldn't have scored a goal either.
You have to give Girona their credit. They have known how to counterattack, they have known how to attack our defence and they have scored two goals against us."
On Europe, Mendilibar added: Three weeks ago we were all crying here to see if we could stay up... We were thinking of beating Girona to be mathematically free of all doubts.
"When you are free from all doubts then you might start thinking about something else. The mental straws that you have done to yourselves... well, it's worth it."
