Sevilla vice-president Jose Maria del Nido Carrasco has apologised to fans after defeat at Arsenal.

Sevilla were outclassed for their 2-0 defeat at Champions League opponents Arsenal.

Del Nido Carrasco later said, "We played a very bad game, it cannot be classified any other way. We apologise to the Sevillistas, especially to the 1,500 who traveled, because the team has not lived up to the fans who have come to see it.

" We are very angry and sad, like the players and the coaching staff... We have to learn from the mistakes, correct them and get up, because on Sunday we have a beautiful game. Without prejudice to that, we fully trust the squad and the coach and we are convinced that we are going to move forward with the situation

"From now until Sunday (against Real Betis) we are going to kill ourselves to give joy to the fans, with all the respect in the world to Real Betis Balompi, to win the game.

"You know that football is also a state of mind. The team has had bad results for several months apart from the end of last season and we need a change of positive dynamic. That is one of the problems that Sevilla has, which is in a pretty low mood."

Del Nido Carrasco also said of coach Diego Alonso: "We are going to be patient, we want to build a project around the figure of Diego Alonso, but I don't dare ask the fans for anything today other than apologise for the team's performance."
