KOTA MARUDU: A sewing skill project is able to generate income for B40 women in addition to improving their living standards.
Head of Hibiscus Petroleum Sabah Operations, Edmund Ang, said the year-long programme involved 20 selected participants from Kudat and Kota Marudu districts.
“This one-year project is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad in collaboration with Sedcovest Holdings Sdn Bhd (Sedcovest).
“It aims to help increase the local community’s income through sewing skills training.

According to Edward, Sedcovest also welcomes synergies with similar corporate entities that enable it to develop its socio-economic role, especially in areas in the state that need attention and support.
“The programme will start with a five-day skills course that also includes basic modules of bookkeeping, digital marketing and business planning.
“It will be followed by a series of regular monitoring, guidance and evaluation of the progress of the participants.
“A closing ceremony will be held at the end of the programme where recognition prizes will be given to the participants who showed excellent performance,” Edward said.
In the same event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Hibiscus Petroleum and Sedcovest, each represented by Edmund and Sedcovest’s General Manager, Abd Rahim Md Zain, followed by a Pledge of Allegiance ceremony by 20 participants.
Also present were Hibiscus Petroleum’s Community and Government Relations Advisor, Datuk Eddie Abdullah and Sedcovest officials.
