
Kota Kinabalu: A police corporal was charged in the Sessions Court here with four counts of committing physical sexual assault against an underage girl between 2024 and last year.
Abdul Kahar Malek, 46, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim to all four charges.
The charges alleged that Abdul Kahar committed physical sexual assault against the girl, who was 14 at the time, on three occasions in Beaufort in February, June and July 2024.
The fourth charge alleged that he committed a similar offence against the same victim, who was 15 at the time, in Beaufort at about 5pm on July 25, 2025.
All four charges were framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
The court fixed Oct 13 for pre-trial case management and granted the accused bail of RM6,000 for each charge.
He was also ordered to report to a police station once a month and surrender his passport to the court, if any.
