SIPITANG: A two-storey office building belonging to Sabah Forest Industries (SFI) was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday.
Sipitang Fire and Rescue Station Chief Desmond AK Micky @ Dominic said the department received a distress call at 5.34pm and immediately deployed seven personnel, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a Vigo vehicle, to the scene, located about 11km away.
He said the fire involved an unoccupied permanent two-storey office building, with both the first and second floors affected.
“The fire was brought under control at 7.10pm using a 300-foot hose with two nozzles supplied with water from the fire engine,” he said.
Desmond said no casualties were reported as the building was vacant at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire and losses are under investigation.
