Staff at Hospital Sungai Buloh in Selangor lined the hospital corridors to pay their final respects to the nation’s first female surveyor at The Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM), honouring her selfless decision to donate her organs after she sadly passed away on 20 June.

In a Facebook post, the hospital paid tribute to the late Puan Hajjah Normah, a former lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), whose organs and tissues were donated on 21 June to help five people in need.

Sungai Buloh Hospital honours late lecturer’s selfless organ donation

The hospital also shared how the late Puan Hajjah Normah’s wish to become an organ donor was honoured by her children after she was declared brain dead.

“On 21 June 2026, her final wish became a reality. Through this precious gift of life, the organs and tissues she donated are expected to save and transform the lives of at least five patients,” the post read.

The hospital also expressed its gratitude to her family for what it described as a “priceless gift”, noting that their decision to honour her wishes would have a lasting impact on many lives.

Reflecting on her legacy, the hospital wrote:

“Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to educating the nation’s children, and with her final breath, she continued to leave behind a legacy of service.”

Meanwhile, the hospital also highlighted that the organ procurement case marked a new milestone in the close collaboration between the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

“We were honoured to work alongside the Hepatobiliary Surgery Team from the University of Malaya (UM), whose dedication helped make this noble effort possible.

“Heartfelt appreciation also goes to her family for honouring her wishes, as well as to the surgical teams from Sungai Buloh Hospital and the University of Malaya, who worked tirelessly to make this mission possible. May her soul be showered with mercy and be placed among the righteous,” the hospital wrote.
