Weddings are joyous occasion celebrated by close friends and family. Just recently, a Singaporean couple has decided to do something different by getting married in a kopitiam, breaking barriers!

According to a TikTok video posted by @purtyboys, she shared that she attended her close friend’s wedding. But what caught the attention of many was the fact that they had their wedding in a kopitiam named Yakun. Watching the video, the happy couple was seen taking their vows in front of the cashier counter, before signing the marriage papers.

Following the video, guests that were present were served toast with kaya as well as soft boiled eggs, making it a different and memorable wedding banquet. Speaking to Wau Post, she shared that the wedding inspiration happened back in 2019, when the couple realised that their names when put together is pronounced as Yakun.

Traditional breakfast has always been their thing

“They love traditional breakfast, and this has been a topic since 2019”, she said.

Other than that, she also shared that all their friends have encouraged the couple to celebrate their marriage in the kopitiam as it matches their energy. When asked how they felt about the wedding, she shared that all their friends didn’t know what to expect for the wedding.

“We didn’t know what to expect, but we definitely enjoyed every moment of it once we arrived at the location”, she said.
