A Singaporean woman is claiming that a car wash manager in Larkin, Johor Bahru, had intimidated her, overcharged her and provided her with sub-par service after their staff had failed to vacuum the interior of her car.

According to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, the 48-year-old woman shared that she asked the car wash staff for the price of washing and vacuuming her car, and was told it would cost RM12.

She then agreed with the price and went to a nearby burger stall to wait for her car to be cleaned.

“I went to buy a burger from a nearby stall and when I came back about an hour later, I noticed my car had not been vacuumed,” she said.

The vacuum cleaner was broken

She asked the staff about it and was told that their vacuum cleaner was broken.

“I asked why I was still being charged RM12 when the vacuuming was not done, and the staff said that the price remained the same,” she explained.

However, when she asked to speak to the manager, the car wash manager told her, “That’s how it’s done in Johor. If you’re not satisfied, go get your car washed in Singapore.”

She further argued that they should have told her in advance that their vacuum cleaner was broken, to which the car wash manager loudly instructed their staff, “Remember her face and her car. Next time she comes, make sure you tell her everything ahead of time so she won’t be disappointed.”

“They made me feel like it was my fault”

The woman shared that she felt frightened by the remarks made by the car wash manager, and accused them of providing poor quality services.

“I just wanted proper service but they made me feel like it was my fault. This is unacceptable,” she said, adding that many of the car wash’s customers are Singaporeans, based on the car registration numbers.

She also called for stricter regulations on car wash operators to ensure fairness and transparency, especially for customers from Singapore.
