KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court has issued a notice to show cause for contempt of court against Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal over remarks he allegedly made regarding the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan made the order on Monday after counsel Datuk Ram Singh raised the matter in court, noting that a video of Shafie’s comments had been shown during proceedings.

The application was supported by all parties present, including interested parties and conducting officers.

Ram said the Coroner also reminded everyone—including the public, politicians and bystanders—to refrain from making disparaging remarks about the inquest in public.

The footage, which has since gone viral on social media, is believed to have been recorded during a recent dinner where Shafie delivered his comments.
