Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was sentenced to five weeks' jail for the contempt of court over his remarks related to the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, on Wednesday.
Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan made the decision for Shafie who is Semporna Member of Parliament, after he was convicted on the contempt of court against him.
The order effectively from Wednesday.
However, his application to stay of execution was granted pending appeal to the High Court against the decision.
