KINABATANGAN: Sabah-based Warisan has outlined five key points in its manifesto for the general election, party president Shafie Apdal said today.

“The manifesto is simple but the content is meaningful,” he said here after a meet-the-people function in the Kinabatangan constituency. “We’ll see how it goes,” he said.

Shafie said the essence of the manifesto includes a vision to strengthen unity and transparent governance if Warisan comes to power.

Warisan’s mission was to offer a clean government with integrity, an inclusive government and a fair government. “We want a government that carries out its responsibilities transparently as well as a fair and equitable government so that all strata of people are entitled to help from the government.”

Also present at the event were the Warisan candidate for Kinabatangan, Mazliwati Abd Malek, and Kinabatangan Warisan head Ismail Ayob.

Shafie said Warisan would not field a candidate for Kinabatangan if the party was not confident of victory.

The Kinabatangan contest is a straight fight between newcomer Mazliwati and Barisan Nasional Sabah chairman Bung Moktar Radin, who has held the seat for five terms since 1999.

In the 2018 general election, Bung won with a majority of 9,478 votes, defeating Ghazali Abdul Ghani of Warisan, and Mustapa Datu Tambuyong (Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah).
