SHAH ALAM, Jan 15 — The demolition of the Shah Alam Stadium will take some time to be completed as the facility will be manually dismantled instead of using explosives.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision was made taking into consideration two primary factors, namely the impact on the neighbourhood and the presence of a Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) substation within its premises.

“I’ll make sure it will be done immediately, but we can’t use bombs or explosives,” he told reporters after delivering his 2024 mandate to state civil servants at the State Secretariat Building, here, today.

“Firstly, this is because of the impact to the neighbourhood. That is why we have to do it manually and it will take a while.

“Secondly, we are resolving an issue relating to a TNB substation on the , which supplies electricity to Seksyen 13, Shah Alam.”

According to Amirudin, the approval to relocate the substation has already been issued by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), and that the process is currently underway.

The Selangor government was previously reported to have submitted a planning permission for the new Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) project on November 15, which involves the demolition of the existing Shah Alam Stadium with a cost of RM35.5 million.

On December 24, Amirudin said MBSA had granted approval for the demolition process of the stadium to be carried out.

The media reported that the KSSA project, which spans across a 76.08-hectare area, is expected to be completed by 2026.
