Kota Kinabalu: Tanjung Keramat elected representative Datuk Shahelmey Yahya has denied claims he and four other assemblymen from Umno will form a new party after his earlier announcement that the five decided to stay with the ruling GRS coalition amid an attempt to oust Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor.

Shahelmey, in a statement today, said such reports and broadcasts were an exaggeration made without the five assemblymen's knowledge.

"As stressed earlier, we, the five Umno assemblymen, have made the stand not to support the act to topple the current government and we're ready to face whatever repercussions from [Umno]," said the Sabah Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister and Putatan MP.

Shahelmey had announced the stand after Sabah Umno's withdrawal of support last week from Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is also the chairman of GRS, which Umno was part of.
