Kota Kinabalu: Ramadan bazaar traders in the State are reminded to practice integrity and sell at reasonable prices.
Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya said they must also guarantee the hygiene and quality of their food items for the wellbeing of buyers.
He said the traders should do business prudently, practice integrity and selling their products at reasonable prices, apart from ensuring cleanliness and quality.
“In the last Ramadan, we received complaints from buyers related to food sold being damaged or stale,” he said, adding that Ramadan bazaar traders needed to be always aware of the quality of the food they sell.
Shahelmey also advised the public visiting Ramadan bazaars to strictly obey the traffic rules to ensure safety of all.
“When parking a vehicle, park carefully and don’t make yourself so important that its causes difficulties to other visitors,” he said after inaugurating the Al Mawaddah Mosque in Taman Seri Gaya, here.
Surau Al Mawaddah, which was built in 2011, was upgraded as a mosque in 2019 with a capacity of 400 to 500 people from around Taman Seri Gaya, Luyang and nearby government offices.
According to him, the mosque was not only a place for prayers, study and religious events but also a venue for Muslims to meet and strengthen friendship through sports, leisure and business activities, such as stalls and car wash centres, the proceeds of which were returned to the mosque.
Among those present were Sabah Deputy Mufti Datuk Abdul Manap Lakariba and Al Mawaddah Mosque Chairman Datuk Abdullah Sibil.
Meanwhile, in KUALA PENYU, residents of Palu-Palu, Ilanun and Layang-Layang Pasir villages are given the chance to conduct business during the Ramadan fasting month.
Palu-Palu Village Development and Security Authority (JPKK) Chairman Ramzeini Ramlie said the move, approved by Kuala Penyu District Officer Sebastian Ingkim on March 6, said the business venue for the residents of the three villages is called Dataran Perpaduan (Unity Square) Bazar Ramadan.
“It is also a combination of three communities, namely the Neighbourhood Watch, JPKK and Palu-Palu’s Nurhiday-ah Mosque committee members.
“Accordingly, a collaborative work will be held on March 18 to clean up the Unity Square, ahead of Ramadan,” he said.
