PUTATAN: Tanjung Keramat assemblyman Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya says he is still weighing his political options amid speculation he could face legal action from Barisan Nasional (BN) if he contests under a different party in the upcoming Sabah state election.

“I’m aware of the matter and am still considering my political position. In politics, three weeks is a long time, anything can happen,” he told reporters after attending an event in Putatan today.

BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki recently revealed that Shahelmey and Kalabakan MP Datuk Andi Surady could face a RM100 million lawsuit if they contest under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Both Shahelmey and Andi were suspended from UMNO for six years in 2023 for not supporting the state leadership during the ‘Langkah Kinabalu’ episode.
