Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom admits defeat to Manchester City at Bramall Lane was tough to take.

The Blades drew level at 1-1 on 85 minutes only for Rodri to hit the winner on 88 minutes.

Heckingbottom said: "I'd prefer the point to any pats on the back to be honest. You have to be perfect to beat Manchester City and the two goals we conceded we could have done better with those. But we can't focus on that and forget about the other 99.5% of times where we got things perfect.

"Even though City had a lot of the ball we felt like we had a lot of control in terms of where that ball was, we put in a lot of hard work. I think if we had kept it at 0-0 until our substitutes we could have been much more of a threat to them.

"As it happened they went in front and they are a tough team to play against when they are leading. So for us to come back and make it 1-1 and then go on to lose, it just adds more salt into the wounds."
