Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom was left frustrated after their home defeat to Manchester United.

Oli McMburnie's penalty had canceled out Scott McTominay's opener for the visitors before Diogo Dalot struck in the second-half United's winner.

Heckingbottom later said: "The performance was good. Individually and collectively there were some real good moments in there.

"The situation we find ourselves in with injuries is freakish really. While we were considering a shape change we had one forced on us today but the players responded really, really well this week.

"We are under no illusion how tough this league is but I think you can see what our strength has to be. We can't compete with the bench that United have got and financially we will not compete with lots of these clubs but where we can compete is if we get things right tactically and you can see the spirit and work ethic.

"There have been too many performances like that for us to not turn that tide but we have to do it."
