Manchester United's prospective owner Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's camp have refuted speculation about a deal to buy the club being concluded.

Qatari media had reported early this week that Sheikh Jassim's offer had been selected as the preferred bid by the Glazer family.

However, The Mirror states that his camp have now come out and denied those reports.

They claim that success in buying United is pure speculation" at the moment.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British billionaire who is the chief executive of INEOS, is also in the running to buy United.

Media speculation in England has stated that an announcement of a preferred bidder could come later this week.
