Jonjo Shelvey hinted that he should not have played against Newcastle United last season.
Shelvey signed for Nottingham Forest in January, leaving the Magpies after seven years at St. James' Park.
While he needed to make the move to get more regular playing time, Shevley admits it was mad" to take on the Magpies so soon after leaving.
"It was a bit mad to be fair," he told ChronicleLive.
"I looked across during the warm-up and I knew it off by heart because I had done it so many times and it just felt a bit weird, but it was a nice moment to play against your mates and the supporters.
"Obviously, we didn't get the result we had hoped for. Newcastle had such a fantastic season last year so I wasn't over the moon with the result, but it was a nice experience and one that I don't think will probably happen ever again."
