In a new development, Himank Mittal, brother of Manisha Mittal, has denied allegations of being behind his sister’s murder. Manisha, director of Saraswati Paradise International Public School in Housing Board Colony, Sanjauli, Shimla, was shot dead near the school gate by assailants.

Before her death, Manisha posted social media videos levelling serious allegations against Himank. She claimed her life was in danger and that her brother had threatened to kill her multiple times over a property dispute. Soon after the murder, Himank shared a video on his social media handles denying any role in the crime.

In the viral video, Himank was seen lying in bed with bandages on his arms and legs. He said he too was attacked on June 1 and has been confined to his home since. “I want to make it clear that I had no dispute or strained relationship with my sister. The Himachal Pradesh Police have questioned me at my residence. I am fully cooperating with the investigation, so my name should not be linked to my sister’s murder,” he said.

On June 13, two assailants from Haryana, identified as Ashish Ahlawat and Deepak, fired multiple rounds from country-made pistols at Manisha near the school gate, killing her on the spot. After the crime, they fled via link roads to evade police barricades and reached Haryana.

Police launched an investigation and formed special teams. After examining CCTV footage, technical and digital evidence, they traced the accused and arrested them. Both are currently on a seven-day police remand as police probe the exact motive behind the murder.
