Many netizens are on the verge of disbelief following recent news that a high court judge ruled a postnuptial agreement permitting a husband to maintain a mistress during marriage as legally valid.
This development emerged after a woman referred to as HLC was married to a business tycoon known as PTL in 1997. Just one month into their marriage, they crafted an agreement regarding the allowance of mistresses.
The high court judge determined that the agreement was mutually agreed upon and voluntary by both parties. Therefore, according to the terms of the agreement, the husband has not acted improperly.
Justice Evrol Mariette Peters emphasized, "As long as there is no violation of any law, parties to a marriage have the right to make decisions about their relationships and lifestyle preferences according to their unique needs, desires, and circumstances."
Peters' statement was quoted from an 87-page judgment published on the judiciary's website earlier this week.
