Johor Family Shocked After Son’s ‘Girlfriend’ Turns Out to Be a Man

A Malaysian man’s romantic plans took a shocking twist when he introduced his “girlfriend” to his family, only to discover that the person behind the hijab and purdah was actually a man.

The bizarre incident unfolded in Pontian, Johor, when the young man, who had been in a relationship for three weeks, decided to bring his partner home for Aidilfitri celebrations. His sister, Maya Syuhada Rosley, later shared the story in a viral Facebook post, which has since been removed.

A Mysterious Romance

According to Maya, her brother met the woman—who introduced herself as Hidayah—through a dating app. Hidayah claimed to be from Sabah, residing in Kuala Lumpur, and described herself as an orphan with no family. She expressed a wish to celebrate Aidilfitri with Maya’s family, and they warmly welcomed her.

However, just before Hidayah arrived, she mentioned that she had a large body frame and a tomboyish personality. This immediately raised Maya’s suspicions.

Strange Behavior Raises Doubts

As soon as Hidayah arrived, her physical appearance caught Maya’s attention. She looked much older than expected, prompting Maya to wonder if she was already married, a runaway, or even a criminal.

That night, Hidayah spent more time watching TV than helping in the kitchen, which Maya found odd. At bedtime, their mother asked her to remove her veil, but she refused, claiming she was used to sleeping with it on.

When Hidayah finally fell asleep, the family took the opportunity to remove her veil—and to their utter shock, they discovered that "Hidayah" was actually a man.

The Truth Unveiled

A search of the individual’s identification card confirmed his real name and gender. The family immediately reported the situation to the police, who took the individual into custody for further investigation.

When questioned, the person claimed to be a khunsa—a term referring to an intersex person with both male and female genitalia. However, the family remained unconvinced, especially since Maya’s brother had spent weeks on video calls with Hidayah but never once saw “her” face.

Adding to the mystery, Maya’s family speculated that Hidayah might have hypnotized them, as they could not understand why they had overlooked so many red flags. They remain puzzled about the real motive behind the deception and why the imposter was so eager to visit their home.

This shocking incident has since gone viral, leaving Malaysians both amazed and bewildered by the elaborate deception.
