It’s that sweet time of the month with the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on 17 September 2024. This traditional festival means you get to enjoy mooncakes no matter if you prefer traditional baked or snow skin varieties. From the classic lotus paste with or without yolk to others like Musang King durian, ice cream and alcoholic choices, we have compiled a list of 8 places for mooncakes in KL & Selangor that you can shop or order online.
This year, Hilton Kuala Lumpur collaborated with multi-disciplinary visual artist Jaemy C. for the unique mooncake collection. This includes the premium box quilted box boasting elaborate calligraphy and magnetic art with a dragon motif. The box contains four pieces of mooncakes, available in Traditional Baked, Heavenly Gold (Snow Skin with Pure Premium Musang King Durian) or Artisanal Snow Skin varieties.
Alternatively, check out the cylindrical box combining old-school calligraphy and contemporary art design. And when opened, you will find a traditional lantern adorned with Jaemy’s eclectic art. Some of the flavours available include Ember Jade (Snow Skin Pandan Lotus Paste with Crunchy Sambal & XO Sauce Filling) and Signature Baked Red Bean Paste with Almond Flakes.

2) Inside Scoop
Inside Scoop combines artisanal ice cream and mooncakes wrapped in snow skin — no doubt an irresistible combo worth having here. Their Ice Cream Mooncake consists of four pieces in a box including Musang King, Lucky Pistachio, Unicorn and Rocher. For instance, the Musang King Snow Skin uses only 100% real Musang King durian flesh for the ice cream inside a pillowy soft snow skin. The Unicorn Snow Skin, in the meantime, mixes raspberry yoghurt and butterfly pea flower-stained milk ice cream in a snowskin with a raspberry yolk.

If you prefer your mooncake with an alcoholic twist, you can’t go wrong with Cake Tella’s Reunion – Alcoholic Ice Cream Snow Skin Mooncake. They have four flavours available including the bold and caramel Guinness Draught Gula Malacca, the floral-fruity Roku Gin Sakura Raspberry, the creamy & nutty Baileys Valrhona Almond and the alcoholic-free Milo Nugget — all wrapped in snow skins.
Cake Tella also released Celebration with four flavours from Martell Noblige Orange to Martell VSOP Coffee Hazelnut, Guinness Draught Gula Melaka and Roku Gin Sakura Raspberry. All snow skin mooncakes come with an ice bag, a steel knife, a firework candle and a big candle.
From Lai Po Heen, renowned for its traditional Cantonese cuisine and handmade dim sum comes a collection of Mandarin Oriental’s mooncakes.
