Tenom: The Kalimaran Festival celebration is a Murut traditional art festival which aims to showcase and revive its culture and art so that it would not be forgotten, especially among the younger generation.
It began in 2003.
Ilau Kalimaran advisor Datuk Rubin Balang said the festival has been rebranded from its original Tamu Besar Injawari or Panawari which was celebrated by their ancestors before independence and also after independence.
Subsequently, he said, it was rebranded and named as “Pesta Kalimaran” (Ilau Kalimaran).
