LABUAN: The ill-preparedness on the part of Sabah authorities to resume the much-awaited fast-boat service between here and Kota Kinabalu suggests Sabah is not bothered about Labuan.
“It is doubtful that Sabah has any genuine interest in Labuan’s economic woes as evidenced by the fact that even when opportunities are available it is not using them to help the island,” said Labuan Women’s Affairs Association (Hawa) Chief Fauziah Datuk Din.
Advertisement“Even though a Federal Minister has announced that the much-awaited Labuan-KK express was ready to resume service on Dec 15, ahead of the festive season, the authorities in Sabah didn’t know about it, resulting in the landing facility in KK for the boat being not ready.”
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa announced early last month that the Labuan-KK express service would resume after a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
