SIBU: The siblings of a 22-year-old woman who died of cancer on Jan 18 after being admitted to a hospital here have disclosed a handwritten letter she left behind before her death, saying it was shared in accordance with her final wishes, according to a Facebook post by her sister.

They alleged the letter, written in Chinese, set out claims of long-term physical and psychological abuse by their biological father and stepmother, and said they made it public to explain the circumstances surrounding her final months.

In the letter dated Jan 9, the woman described alleged mistreatment by her stepmother at home after returning from cancer treatment in Kuala Lumpur, including deprivation of food, restricted access to basic facilities, and acts of physical and verbal abuse, while stating that her father remained silent.

She also alleged that as her condition worsened and her cancer recurred, her father repeatedly demanded her identity card at the hospital to prepare death-related arrangements, leaving her questioning whether her death was expected.

The siblings said the letter was released to raise public awareness and understanding of what they claim contributed to her suffering prior to her death.
