Recently, it was reported that the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) had filed a police report against a sibling duo after they had faked a missing persons report and led the authorities on a fruitless 4-day search and rescue (SAR) operation involving over 30 personnel.

Following this, the sibling who was apparently ‘missing’ but had actually run off to a neighbouring country, had returned to Malaysia and turned himself in at the Muar Police Station. The Muar police also confirmed that the ‘disappearance’ of the sibling was, indeed, fabricated.

Now, both siblings have been charged for their crimes

According to a report by Harian Metro, 38-year-old influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin and his 30-year-old brother, Tengku Aziz, were each sentenced to a month in jail as well as a RM1,500 fine by the Magistrate’s Court in Muar today (July 25).

Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar made the decision after both siblings pleaded guilty to the charges presented against them by an interpreter.

The court also ruled that Tengku Nizaruddin could be jailed for 3 months, while Tengku Aziz could be jailed for 6 months if they fail to pay their fines.
