“For group iftar gatherings, we can accommodate up to 500 people at a time,” Rosmawati said.
Besides breaking fast, SICC also provides Tarawih prayer facilities, with guest imams from the State Mosque leading the prayers every night. An express prayer area is also available for those who wish to perform Maghrib prayers quickly before continuing their activities.
“We want to create a complete Ramadan atmosphere in one place, where families and friends can enjoy delicious food while strengthening relationships. This is also an ideal venue for networking and social interaction,” she said.
Rosmawati said in an effort to reduce food waste, SICC would donate untouched surplus food to those in need.
“After iftar, any leftover food in good condition will be donated to orphans and those in need. Additionally, from 11pm to 3am, ‘sahur’ will be available at Merati Café at half the price of the main buffet,” she said.
The SICC Ramadan buffet opened a day earlier than Ramadan to take advantage of the international forum, Business Event (BE) in Sabah, held at SICC from Feb 27-28.
She hoped visitors, including international participants from the BE in Sabah forum, would help spread the word about the SICC Ramadan buffet to a wider audience.
“We want them to know that on Borneo Island, there is a place offering 850 dishes from various countries. This is not just a dining venue but also a space for networking and community engagement,” she added.
The SICC Ramadan buffet is open from 5pm to 9.30pm, with approximately 1,200 seats available at Level 2, Kinabatangan Hall I-II.
A promotional price of RM110 per person is offered to groups of 10 or more who make reservations by the 10th of Ramadan.
