
RM158 million in GMV — Celebrating Merchant Success and the Rise of Malaysia’s Digital Commerce Powerhouse.
The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) commemorated a significant milestone with the grand finale of the 10th Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards 2025, celebrating ten years of nurturing and honouring Malaysia’s leading digital entrepreneurs.
This year’s awards received an impressive 1,060 applications from merchants across various industries, including Fashion & Accessories, Beauty, F&B, Home Living, Home Appliances, and Baby & Toys. From this, 511 participants were shortlisted and underwent a comprehensive journey that included five advanced training sessions on topics such as Data Analytics, Livestream Optimisation, and Creator Training.
Merchants were also given exposure to practical applications of AI tools to help them enhance operations, improve customer engagement, and grow their businesses even further in today’s competitive digital landscape.
In addition, selected participants took part in exclusive industry visits to Dattel Asia and Business Synergy, where they gained valuable insights into market intelligence, consumer data applications, and operational best practices. At Business Synergy, participants were introduced to ROADMAP, a retail technology solution designed to help merchants strategize, streamline operations, and enhance business efficiency, equipping them with tools to stay competitive in the evolving digital landscape.
This year’s competition not only drew impressive participation but also delivered noteworthy commercial impact. Throughout the campaign period, participating merchants collectively recorded over RM158 million in sales during the campaign period, contributing to a decade-long cumulative GMV of RM500 million since 2016. These figures underscore the tangible business growth driven by the Top ECM Awards, reflecting both consumer confidence and the effectiveness of Sidec’s merchant development framework.

Spotlight on Livestream Excellence – “King of Livestream”
A standout component of this year’s Top ECM Awards was the “Livestream Battle”, held in collaboration with TikTok Shop. This segment of the competition spotlighted merchants who showcased exceptional skills in livestream selling—combining engaging content, real-time customer interaction, and high conversion rates. This year, the Top ECM Livestream Battle mirrored the excitement of TikTok Shop Bazar Raya Live Tanpa Henti 72 Jam, where Malaysia’s top e-commerce sellers engaged in a continuous 72-hour live-selling marathon.
This innovative initiative maximized audience engagement, amplified sales, and showcased the power of real-time digital commerce in driving Malaysia’s e-commerce sector forward.
A total of 40 merchants with 46 livestream sessions were held across five days, accumulating up to 132 hours of live-selling, demonstrating strategic excellence in digital sales strategies, audience engagement, and innovative content creation.
RM250,000 in Prizes Across Four Award Categories
The Top ECM Awards 2025 offered a total prize pool of RM250,000, distributed across four major categories and awarded to 24 outstanding winners. The prizes included cash, trophies, and certificates, recognising digital merchants who excelled in innovation, branding, community-building, and live commerce.
