Signify Malaysia has recently concluded its Innovation Day 2025 event and has highlighted its efforts to accelerate Malaysia’s green agenda by showcasing its latest smart lighting innovations and forging strategic industry partnerships.
With sustainability is a core principle tied to responsible growth through energy transition and sustainable development, Malaysia’s commitment to a greener future is underpinned by the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024, which together outline the country’s strategy to enhance energy efficiency and drive adoption of renewable energy.
Recognized as Southeast Asia’s top performer in the Energy Transition Index 2023 by the World Economic Forum, Malaysia is setting a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth.
Signify Malaysia President Sukanto Aich highlighted that the company is ready to partner with industries and local governments to support this transition, leveraging its portfolio of energy-efficient smart lighting solutions, including solar-powered systems.
Additionally, they have committed globally to achieving Net Zero by 2024 and aim to cut their full value chain emissions by 50% by 2030. Its sustainability strategy spans climate action, circular economy, food security, health, and safety.
Meanwhile, the integration of IoT-enabled smart lighting is rapidly reshaping energy management across Malaysian cities, industries, and homes. Lighting currently accounts for 15–20% of energy consumption in commercial buildings, but connected solutions can reduce this by up to 70%. The EECA is reinforcing this shift by mandating minimum energy performance standards, energy audits, and product labeling, paving the way for broader adoption of energy-saving technologies.
From local councils to developers and homeowners, stakeholders are increasingly embracing smart lighting as a means to lower operational costs and align with Malaysia’s green building standards. Signify is actively supporting this transition by offering adaptable, scalable systems that cater to diverse needs while advancing sustainability goals.
Mr. Aich emphasized that energy-efficient lighting must become “not just a green choice, but the obvious one,” stressing the company’s mission to make these solutions accessible and impactful across all segments of society.
Through continuous innovation, collaboration, and purpose-driven initiatives, Signify is lighting the path toward a low-carbon, future-ready Malaysia, fully supporting the nation’s net-zero ambitions.
After the keynote, Signify Malaysia also showcased various solutions tailored to different industries such as hotels, retail, office, warehouse, smart cities, outdoors, and more.
