Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul clarified that he has not received any motion of no-confidence from any parliamentarians. Addressing media practitioners at the Parliament building, he emphasized that there were no application letters, emails, or calls related to such matters.

“None. I’ve not received anything, either black and white, email, or call. This means that until today, nothing will be happening because nothing happened. So, I’ve received nothing because a couple of you had called me to ask about this,” Johari stated during the briefing.

In January, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhil Shaari expressed uncertainty, stating that there is no guarantee that the Dewan Rakyat Speaker would allow a motion of no-confidence even if submitted by the Opposition.

On January 11, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim threw a challenge to the Opposition, encouraging them to move a motion against him in the upcoming Dewan Rakyat sitting if they aimed to topple the government.

Speculation about attempts by the Opposition to change the government had been circulating in recent months, including references to the "Dubai Move" and the utilization of purported statutory declarations.

Notably, on May 6 last year, Anwar dared the Opposition to table a motion of no-confidence against him in Parliament following their claim of having support to do so. Anwar, who is also the Tambun MP, reiterated this challenge in July, but the motion did not materialize. Instead, the Prime Minister secured a vote of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat on December 19.

Johari's recent clarification provides insights into the parliamentary stability, affirming that no formal actions have been taken regarding a motion of no-confidence. The absence of application letters, emails, or calls on this matter indicates a lack of concrete efforts to challenge the current government leadership through such a motion.

The Speaker's role in handling a motion of no-confidence is essential, and his statements underscore the importance of adhering to the established parliamentary procedures and protocols. As political dynamics continue to unfold, the focus remains on the official channels within the parliamentary framework for any substantial changes to the current government structure.
