- Simon Richardson has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years for the murder of headteacher Michael Mullins.
- The 35-year-old struck Mr Mullins while he was cycling in Greater Manchester before dragging him beneath his 4x4 for 1.3 miles in an attempt to dislodge him.
- Judge Mrs Justice Brunner KC told Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court that Richardson showed an astonishing degree of disregard for human life by prioritising his escape over a man's life.
- Mr Mullins, who led Stretford Grammar School for 17 years, died from multiple injuries after being found alone on a grass verge by a motorcyclist.
- Richardson, who has 28 previous convictions including several driving offences, was also convicted of a separate charge of dangerous driving following a police pursuit.
