LABUAN: The Federal Government has no plans now to pay compensation for Labuan becoming a Federal Territory (FT).

Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said this in response to a question by Sabah Senator Datuk Edward Linggu since it was understood that compensation was paid to the Selangor government when Kuala Lumpur was federalised.

AdvertisementKL became a FT in 1974, and Labuan in 1984.

Linggu intercepted Labuan Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman when the latter was speaking on the amendments to the Labuan Business Activity Act to pose the question at the Dewan Negera.
