Singapore Airlines Plans Extra Amsterdam Flights From August

JAKARTA - Singapore Airlines said on May 25 that it will increase flight frequencies between Singapore and Amsterdam to 10 weekly services from August 1 to October 22, up from the current daily schedule, in response to demand for travel between the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.

The extra flights remain subject to regulatory approvals. SQ334 is scheduled to depart Singapore for Amsterdam on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:10 local time. The return service, SQ333, is scheduled to depart Amsterdam for Singapore on the same day at 20:35 local time.

The added Amsterdam services will use the long-haul variant of the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Tickets for the additional flights went on sale through SIA’s distribution channels on May 25.

Mr Dai Haoyu, senior vice president marketing planning at Singapore Airlines, said, “Amsterdam has an important role in our broader European network. Through our Singapore hub, we connect travellers from the Asia-Pacific and beyond seamlessly, helping to meet the strong demand on this route.”

The Amsterdam increase follows other changes in SIA’s European network. The airline said these include a new five-times-weekly Madrid service via Barcelona, daily services to Manchester and Milan, 10 weekly services to Munich, and a double-daily London Gatwick operation.

SIA’s home hub, Changi Airport, recorded 23.3 million passenger movements from January to April, including 5.73 million in April. The airport’s published statistics said the figures were current as of May 22.

SIA said the added services form part of efforts to give customers more choice and onward connections across Europe through Singapore. The release did not identify specific Asia-Pacific feeder markets for the Amsterdam flights, so the regional link should be read through the airline’s Singapore hub and not as a market-by-market capacity announcement.

The airline’s ongoing daily SQ324 and SQ323 services remain on the Singapore-Amsterdam route. From July 1 to October 24, those services are scheduled to operate on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with all listed flight times in local time.
