Singapore Derby a must watch for racing enthusiasts

Kota Kinabalu: The Singapore Derby, one of the grandest horse race staged by Singapore Turf Club, is scheduled on July 23 at the Singapore Racecourse at Kranji. With 12 races on the card, there are three "must watch" races as far as the local Sabah racing enthusiasts are concerned.

Sabah Ace, owned by Royal Sabah Turf Club, with three wins out of four in the bag, will race at Race 12 at 5.40pm. Having recovered from injury for his last start, Sabah Ace ran a respectable fourth placing.

With condition restored back to fighting fit, Sabah Ace is expected to deliver in his fifth outing and bring in much joy and glory for Sabah.

Besides Sabah Ace, RSTC Chairman Datuk Peter Chin said Sabah Star, another one of RSTC's proficient thoroughbred, will race earlier at Race 3 at 1pm. With his favourite turf track and distance 1400m, Sabah Ace is tipped by horse racing analysts to finish strongly amongst the placings.

Analysts predict a cul-de-sac face-off battle between two of the very best Kranji has to offer - Super Salute and Golden Monkey. It is going to be a cracker of a race run over 1800m turf track.

Racing fans in Sabah can visit Royal Sabah Turf Club Racecourse at Tambalang, Off-Course centres at Tanjung Aru or Keningau, to catch "live" Singapore racing actions and also local racing, this coming Sunday. First race starts at 12pm.
