So imagine one parent’s grief to witness their child sustain a severe facial injury from an accident of falling on a water bottle, an incident that happened on August 14th.
A father named Wen recounts to Shin Min Daily News of how the tragedy happened: The incident occurred in a CCTV footage showing the toddler being cared for by a helper walking around, drinking the water bottle until he tripped.
Following the accidental fall, the toddler was seen bleeding from the face, and sustained a deep cut between his eyebrows. The child was rushed for emergency treatment at a hospital with the helper and a tenant. At this period of time, the father, Wen, was away on a business trip abroad and the mother of the toddler was away from home at work as well.
The accident had caused the toddler to require 16 stitches for the seven-centimeter deep cut. The father said that the cause of his son’s injury is due to the shape of the bottle and its design. Since the accident, he has sought out legal advice for possible compensation from the company that manufactured the bottle, Evorie.
According to Wen, he bought the bottle back in March at a reasonably high price, saying that because of the price itself, it should be justifiable for its good quality as shared by the good reviews and the bottle is marked safe for children above six months.
An Evorie spokesman shared their acknowledgement and awareness of this incident, wishing the toddler the best in recovery. They have also added that every product under their company undergoes strict quality and safety tests to comply with the highest safety standards. The company encouraged anyone with safety concerns to reach out to them.
