SINGAPURA, June 10 - Selangor’s official delegation visit to Singapore under the S R Nathan Fellowship has opened strategic opportunities to strengthen efforts to attract foreign investment, thereby driving the state’s economic growth across a range of high-impact sectors.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the three-day mission, which began on Monday (June 8), provided an important platform for the state government to promote Selangor as a premier investment destination in Southeast Asia.
The visit included a series of engagement sessions with Singaporean ministries and agencies, as well as an Investment Roundtable jointly organised by Invest Selangor and OCBC Singapore, bringing together international industry players.
“During this visit, we met with several ministries and agencies, in addition to participating in the investment roundtable organised by Invest Selangor and OCBC Singapore. This is an opportunity for us to promote the state and attract foreign investors' attention.
“Singapore is the financial hub of Southeast Asia. Many companies come here seeking opportunities to establish and expand their businesses, and I am confident that Selangor will become a leading destination for foreign investors,” he told Media Selangor.
Ng added that the state government continues to strengthen its strategy to attract high-impact investments, particularly in sectors capable of generating new economic growth and creating high-quality employment opportunities.
During the visit, the delegation, led by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, also held meetings with several Singaporean leaders, including former prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and Education Minister Desmond Lee.
They also participated in engagement sessions with government agencies and industry representatives, receiving briefings on economic planning, investment promotion, urban regeneration, and urban planning.
The S R Nathan Fellowship programme was established to encourage the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences between foreign leaders, senior officials, and Singapore across a broad range of strategic fields.
