SIPITANG: The Government has been urged to immediately install pipes for the supply of treated water to residents of several villages here.
A Kampung Kuala Muaya resident, Joseph Boh, said the villages that have yet to receive piped water supply are Kg Kuala Muaya, Kg Penemeng Lembaga Rubber Industry Sabah (LIGS), Kg Kebawang, Kg Kelangsat, Kg Iteh, Kg Pengawan, Kg Solob, Kg Tunas Baru, Kg Pakiak and Kg Ganui. He said the residents are still depending on gravity water supply which is getting more and more polluted due to land exploration for agriculture.
“Sometimes the water is muddy, especially after rainfall, and the residents have to bathe using river water,” he said during a visit by Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah.
