Police officials inspect a medical store in Sirsa on Thursday.

The authorities in Sirsa are carrying out intensive action against drug traffickers and errant medical store owners. As part of this drive, joint teams of the Drugs Control Department and police conducted surprise inspections at four medical stores in the Ellenabad area.

During the inspections, teams thoroughly checked the stock of medicines, sales records, and other relevant documents. Irregularities were found at Himanshu Medical Store in Ellenabad, and officials have recommended sealing of the store.

The authorities have issued strict instructions to all medical store operators, warning them not to sell any medicine, especially narcotic and prohibited drugs, without a valid prescription from a registered doctor. Officials made it clear that legal action will be taken against any store found violating these rules.

SP Deepak Saharan said the campaign aimed at protecting the youth from drug abuse and make society drug-free. The drive would continue in a sustained manner across the district.

Joint raids were conducted in the presence of Drug Inspector Keshav Vashisth, Ellenabad police station in-charge Sub-Inspector Pragat Singh, and other police personnel.
